Eastern Treatment Plant case study

Keeping Melbourne’s biggest sewage plant pumping

We replaced and enhanced two pumping stations at Melbourne’s major sewage plant without any disruption to the facility.

Client Name: John Holland/KBR

Location: Carrum Downs (South East Melbourne)

Project Value: $3 million

Start Date: July 2016

Completion Date: December 2016

Two pumps at the Eastern Treatment Plant had reached the end of their lifecycle and needed to be replaced. The problem was, they were still keeping Melbourne’s major sewage plant pumping, so we couldn’t simply turn them off and remove them.

Working together with Melbourne Water and the builder, we formulated a precise planning strategy that ensured works could be completed in stages to ensure no disruption to the facility. We didn’t just replace the pumps without a hitch – we provided innovation, adding functionality that provided greater control (allowing the pump speed to be easily controlled) with an increased workload capacity.

With our extensive in-house capabilities, we provided expertise across a large range of services including Switchboard Manufacturing, High Voltage engineering, Fibre Optic cabling and Instrumentation.

With our Infrastructure and Manufacturing divisions working closely together, our client could rest assured there was no reliance on third parties, so all works would be guaranteed to meet Trivantage’s stringent levels of quality control.

Needless to say, our planning, execution and delivery was seamless, with all client expectations met, no disruption to the facility, no OH&S incidents and no environmental impact.
